Iceland is the island state, which is located in the Northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. The country is divided on the island of Iceland, an area of 103,000 square kilometers and small islands around it. Administratively country is divided into eight regions: Sudurnes, Hevyudborgarsvaydid, Vestfirdir, Vesturland, Nordyurland-Eystra, Nordyurland-Westra, Syudyurland, Vestfirdir. The capital of the country is Reykjavik, its population is around 180 000 people including rural areas. Reykjavik is where preside parliament and government, as well as the financial, cultural and commercial center of Iceland. Legislative authority in Iceland belongs to a unicameral Parliament (Althing) (Alþingi), which operates from year 930 AD (63 members (Þingmaður, tingmany); members are elected by popular vote for 4 years), and they, in turn, elect from among its members the President of Althingi (Forseti Alþingis). Prior to 1991, the Althingi was bicameral. The parliament has the power to bring a vote of no confidence in the government.
